You don't understand...I can query a database to show me, in seconds, things like 'most visited areas', or 'most killed spawns', etc. In other words, ANet can identify heavily farmed areas in no time at all....

Anet only is only concered about the spots that are farmed the most. There may be (and is) areas were very little people go. I farmed ettins for 4 months before they were discovered by players. Took less than 2 months after it became popular did it get hit.

I agree with him. If you know spot keep it to yourself. Money is hard to get on this game for new people. Farming is the easiest way as long as you have the time.

At OP... what's the point in telling us that you can farm 1.5k in 5 minutes? It just makes you look like you are gloating, which isn't nice.

Since money has become harder to acquire, I say share the spots, to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. It's a game that revolves around teamwork afterall.

I KNOW RIGHT! I mean, if they were going to check th' logs, why not just write code that pops up an anti-farming message and jukes drops.

It's really not hard to pop

Code:
if( checkRecentPatterns() ) {
PopUpMessage();
IncrementFarmingInstances( area );
}
Into their code, and even have it print out a nice excel graph for them every morning at 9. Sheesh.

"Stop ebay-ing gold" is a far more interesting and less redundant discussion. This is just a bunch of crap. HAND.

It's pretty naive to think Anet won't know farming popular spots if you don't post them here. They have logs of everything. Ever hear of anti-farming code? It wouldn't take a rocket scientist working at Anet to figure out patterns pretty easily. It would be a pretty simple job actually. Anyone who’s had a day of programming would understand that.

All I need is enough money for skills and the occasional mod. Until Anet decides to add things that I can actually spend money on I couldn't care less about farming spots getting obliterated. What do you need money for?

Be thankful they still let you two-man UW. Until this disappears, I refuse to believe Anet is taking a firm stance at nerfing anything. All they'd need to do to lessen the need for farming is scale the drops with party size. If they really wanted to nerf small-party farming, they'd start putting minimum party size requirements in zones or make drops in areas all the time based off a mythical max party size instead of all drops going to all the people who are there at the time (ie. the current 'less = more for me' implementation). Just think if a solo person in an instance only received as many drops as he/she would've if they'd have gone out in an 8-man party?

I say up the drops for everyone (by lessening the anti-farming code just a bit. It seems to kick in rather quickly these days), and base drops all the time off of that mythical max party size, even when not taking a max party out into the wild. Everybody wins. There would be no benefit whatsoever regarding profit to taking out a smaller-than-max party size, and spots would open up for those class combinations that aren't ever taken in groups. Why do I say this last part? Because the more people out there, the quicker stuff dies. If you are going to get good stuff anyways, why wouldn't you want to take out MORE players with you?

On my part, I will announce a new farm spot/build everytime I find one. To me, it's not a question of Gold, I could care less if my 'sweet spots' were nerfed. The part I enjoy most about the game is finding out how to do something difficult. I enjoy exploring, and trying new builds, so when I find one that works, I post it, so other people can enjoy it too.

That is definitely a good idea! Why A-net, would you entice us to try to solo with your "uber" loot if you're just gonna nerf the crap to kingdom come as soon as it becomes too popular? Instead of lessening the drop rates, why not just make the monsters harder to kill for a solo or 2 man, etc.? As TideSwayer said, keep the drop rate for a solo man the same as if he were in as full party? I have found farming spots on my own before (not saying i was the first to find that particular spot), but let's say I farmed the heck out of some rare crafting material. So sooner or later someone posts the location, everyone farms it, bots join in and what not. You guys nerf it, BAM! So now only I, and the few that were able to farm it pre-nerf, have a stash of these materials, while the rest of the GW world has to grind day in and day out to acquire the same amount of materials I got. It may take them from 2-5 times longer to do so. That is why i'm saying, just make it a bit harder to kill the stuff so that everyone (but the soloers) win. I solo, yes, but I like to play alongside a full group as well. Killing the soloers' hobby isn't going to kill me or them, BUT it will help put an end to all those BOTS that farm 24/7.

Gold is easy in this game. Farming spots is easy and helps other players. If you want Fow armor so bad and don't wanna share farm spots, your no lower than a ebayer.*ouchhh low blow*.

There is an entire branch of computer science devoted to automating this called "data mining". It's WAY more sophisticated than you seem to think. The bots you didn't understand are MUCH simpler to do, though any computer scientist could do either one if they wanted. I don't know how the botters do it, but I've written test harneses for software that would work for botting (that is, I could do it and have done similar things but don't know how these particular people implemeted it). This level of data mining isn't too hard either, anybody competant enough to write/design Guild Wars is more than competant to do the simple data mining needed for this.

I gather that you really do not understand compter science and what computers are generally able to do. Nothing wrong with that, we all have things we don't really understand (for example, I know next to nothing about cars), especially given how complex our world is. Unless you are interested in computer science (either because of hobbies or your profession) there is no reason to know it, just as I pay a mechanic to fix my truck (while I am interested in learning more I just do not have the time, I would rather go shoot archery or play guild wars than take my truck apart). You can't know everything out there and you have to choose.

But then, I don't really argue with car people when I have no real idea of how it works or how they would go about doing something.

*shrug* I somewhat give out my farming spots but none of mine are really secret. It's like the "Security through obscurity" thing - technically it doesn't really work. But if you, and only you, know the trick chances are it will not get got (nerfed, hacked, whatever) even though once someone is on the trick there is absolutely no security.

Thing is, we don't know what triggers thier flags - individual gp/hour, number of people using, number of suspected bots, forum posts, or even nothing at all. Every diffierent method they could use (and, of course, they are not limited to one method) has a different counter to it - if it's gp/hour then limiting that is best, if it is forum posts them not talking about it is best.

Given that, it is in our own personal best interest to be silent and not abuse farming spots (stops 90% of the methods of Anet finding them), however since I don't really care too much (I have enough to get what I want) I don't have any trouble telling my spots. The funniest thing is if they don't really monitor it much at all - it's hard to tell for sure. I suspect they mostly try and monitor bots, if that hurts real farmers then it's "collateral damage". I've purported for a long time that you just make it hard enough casual botters can't work and nothing more (hard core botters will never be stopped, if you can humanly do it it can be botted - the only real way to to stop the professional botters is to stop solo farming). Accept what you can't stop and don't screw the legitimate players. But then, I think I tend to be a minority opinion - and we see what we get.

I think your theory about nerfing a good spot for gold and or weapons is Flawed.
Things that get nerfed are exploits..ie.2 chests that drop 10 items each that are close to a portal so you can zone back and forth.
Areas where you can solo don;t get nerfed they just make them a bit harder. ie. Golem boss in Icy Dragon Sword area. Also my hats of To Kcp and others for creating builds and sharing knowledge of areas. Have you ever tried the Hells Precipice run...(not easy) or a Fow ranger solo (not easy).
1: Anet will never nerf skill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2: Anet will nerf area where people exploit the game
I think bots fall into the second

all the original opp is .. is just some attempt for the poster to have others think he is cool or just for him to feel good about himself cause he found a "new farming spot" and isnt telling anyone..

Dude you need to get a clue.. your farmin spot is probably farmed everyday by thousands of people but the fact is you dont know cause you either a: dont bother to use the search feature because its either broken (most likley) or because you are to lazy..

or b: you are to ignorant to realize that you are not the greatest farmer ever and many other far better than yourself have farmed your spot... just face it.. to many people play this game for you to be the only one to know of a spot..

and your an ass not for keeping the spot to yourself.. but for posting on this site trying to brag to others that you have a great spot. if its so great.. stop bitching about all the other posts about farming spots.. cause you obviously dont need them now do ya mister uber farming spot dude?

Because, you know, a multiplayer co-op game such as GW (PvE mode) is just meant to be played by greedy selfish people I agree with the sentiment above, this OP sounds like "I want it all for myself, I found this place, nyah nyah nyah!"

1) Anet doesnt need forums to see areas full of ppl !! cmon, it's THEIR game
2) There is a diff between sharing info and dumb info leechers. I m sick of ppl whining "pls pls pls gimme gold and a good build, i need to farm but i keep dying " those guys not even trying a lil bit by themselves are pissing me off The info should be use as an help, some guys are almost asking u to play their chars
